The Orchard is a traditional house standing within 3/4 of an acre of grounds enjoying complete privacy due to the surrounding woodland area. It is aptly named as the large, sheltered garden hosts various fruit trees and bushes. Along with the colourful flower beds the garden is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside.

Banff has many attractions and activities to suit all tastes. Be it golfing, fishing, exploring the countryside, photographing the beautiful Moray coastline, visiting traditional fishing villages, delving into history or even shopping in Aberdeen, The Orchard is an ideal base.

On entering Banff follow signs for Duff House Gallery & Country House. After turning off the A947 (still following signs for Duff House) continue along this tarred road ignoring allngs to the left. At the end of the tarred road gate pillars will be seen, also a signpost for "The Wrack Wood, Ice House and Mausoleum". Continue along this road ignoring house to the right just inside the gates, and "The Orchard" is the nextng on the right.

Local Places of Interest

Duff House Country House Gallery was constructed between 1735 and 1737 by the architect, William Adam. Once a ducal residence, hotel, sanatorium and prisoner of war camp, this magnificent building is now the principal out station for the National Galleries of Scotland housing many fine paintings and portraits, furniture, tapestries and artifacts. 5 mins walk

The popular Duff House Royal Golf Club in Banff and Royal Tarlair Golf Club in Macduff are excellent choices for a days golfing. There are many more challenging golf courses within easy travelling distance of Banff. 5 mins walk

Also commencing from Duff House there is a pleasant woodland walk through the former estate, bordering the River Deveron. The breathtaking view of the spectacular gorge spanned by The Bridge of Alvah; which was erected in 1772, makes the five and a half mile walk well worth while. 5 mile long walk

Macduff Marine Aquarium is not only the deepest in Britain but also is the only Aquariumto the sky. It gives visitors the opportunity not only to see the living community normally only seen by divers, but also to examine and feel the living creatures in the Touch Pools. 1 1/2 miles

Fraserburgh Lighthouse - Scotland's Lighthouse Museum. This award winning attraction definitely merits a visit. A Guided Tour takes you to the top of Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, the first lighthouse built by the Northern Lighthouse Board in 1787.30 mins drive

Baxter's of Speyside, Fochabers. - The Visitor's Centre with it's Audio Visual and Demonstration Theatre,Factory Tours, Old Shop Museum, Mr George Baxter's Cellar, Mrs Baxter's Cookshop, The Best of Scotland Shop and The Gordon Room and Spey Restaurant portrays how the Baxter family have from 1868, when first established, expanded from a small grocery shop to promoting Scottish foods all over the world. 40 min drive

Archaeolink is a pre-history park situated between Huntly and Inverurie. There are six unique indoor features to experience. Archaeolink Pre-History Park takes you on a journey back in time (7,000 years) where you not only see ancient history recreated but can also enjoy the "hands-on" activities. 40 min drive

Gardenstown and Crovie are just two of the many local picturesque fishing villages along the Moray Firth Coast. The cliff top views are spectacular and you will not be disappointed with the beach path around the cliffs from Gardenstown to Crovie. Definitely a day out with the camera. 15 mins drive
